At Last……….

Carousel Egg by Theo Faberge

Do you remember when you were a kid and you didn’t think you could take the waiting until Christmas?  You laid there on your bed and dreamed about a new bike or The Barbie Dream House?  You convinced yourself that Santa had seen all of your virtuous acts and somehow his back was turned when you teased your little sister and fed the dog under the table. You absolutely knew that not only would you get your new bike, it would be the exact one that you loved visiting at Brady Hardware.  It would be the deep blue one that you coveted, it would be a 10 speed and have hand brakes.  You could feel the wind flying through your hair and you planned just where you were going to ride to first.  You were already shifting the gears in your head as you went up the hill to get to the library.  You just knew it was going to be fabulous…  that is if you could possibly live through days that seemed like years.

That is what waiting on this one of a kind Carousel Egg has been like for me.  Tomorrow morning it will be shown on WAVE3 TV at 6:25 a.m. with our very own Dr. Nancy Trent.  After that, it can be viewed at Merkley Kendrick Jewelers at 138 Chenowith Lane in St. Mathews.  The Carousel Egg will be on display there until Wednesday afternoon and I encourage you to drop in and see it.  Thursday, this fabulous piece of art will be auctioned off to the highest bidder at the the Silent Auction / Brunch to benefit Saddlebred Rescue.  Someone is going to be incredibly lucky to have this piece in their collection, they really are.

The brunch and silent auction is being held at 10:30 a.m. at The Crowne Plaza Hotel on Phillips Lane across the street from the Kentucky Expo Center.  You can still get tickets by pressing the button on the right side of this blog marked “Brunch Tickets”.  I look forward to seeing you there.

About Save a Saddlebred

This blog is on behalf of a cause that is near and dear to my heart, Saddlebred Rescue. Our group saves, rehabilitates and repurposes saddlebred horses. To date, we have prevented 900+ horses from being slaughtered. I'm proud to be a part of that. This site will bring you news of whats going on and of course, pleas for donations. Think about it, it's a great cause.

  1. Kathy Kerr says:

This is a creation by Theo Faberge that took years to perfect, the mechanism of having the carousel itself turn while the horses move up and down all driven by a music box. A fantastic piece that has already gone up in value since issue and supporting a wonderful cause. Saddlebred Rescue, saving America’s horse from slaughter and rehabilitating them for new homes and jobs.

  2. We welcome all to stop by Merkley Kendrick Jewelers in St. Matthews on Chenoweth Lane to view this incredible work of art. Open Tuesday – Saturday, 9:30 am 0 5:30 pm, late hours on Thursday until 9 pm.
